Frequently Asked Questions
Things you need to know about building with Keisha Freedom:
Q1: How long does it take to build a new home?
Most of our projects take somewhere between 6 and 12 months from the moment the slab goes down. Every house is different, though. Things like how complex your design is, the weather, and how long the council takes to get back to us all play a part. We’ll give you a proper schedule during your consultation so you know what the timeline looks like for your specific site.
Q2: Do you provide a fixed-price contract?
Yes. We offer fixed-price contracts for most of our work because nobody likes budget surprises halfway through. The price we agree on at the start is what you pay. The only time that changes is if you decide to add an upgrade or change something later on in the piece.
Q3: What areas do you service?
We’re very active across Western Sydney, but we definitely don’t stop there. We build all over New South Wales. If you’ve got a block of land anywhere in the state, get in touch, and we can chat about making it happen.
Q4: Are you a licensed builder?
Absolutely. Keisha Freedom is fully licensed and insured for residential building in NSW. We also make sure every job is covered by the Home Building Compensation (HBC) fund. It’s a legal requirement, and it’s there to give you that extra peace of mind that your investment is safe.
Q5: What happens at the first consultation?
It’s basically a casual one-hour chat to get your ideas on paper. We’ll talk about your vision, what you’re looking to spend, and your rough move-in dates. If you have photos or floor plans you like, bring them along. There’s no pressure and no obligation to sign anything after we meet.
Q6: Do you handle council approvals?
We take care of the whole paperwork trail for you. That includes getting the documents ready, lodging the applications, and talking to council directly. We know the local codes inside out, which usually helps us avoid any big delays.
Q7: Can I change things once you've started building?
We try to stay flexible. Small tweaks are usually okay, but they can sometimes affect your move-in date or the final cost. If you’re thinking about a big structural change, it’s best to let us know as early as you can so we can see what’s possible before things go too far.
Q8: How do the payments work?
We use a standard progress payment system based on building milestones. You’ll pay in stages: deposit, slab, frame, lock-up, fixing, and then the final handover. We’ll lay this all out clearly in your contract so your bank knows exactly when to release the funds.
Q9: Do you work with first home buyers?
We do, and we love helping people get into their first home. We can point you toward finance brokers who specialise in construction loans and help you work out if you’re eligible for the First Home Owner Grant or any other government schemes.
Q10: What's actually included in the quote?
We aim for “move-in ready” quotes. That means we include site costs (subject to a soil test), the construction, our standard inclusions, and the council fees. If there’s anything extra that isn’t covered, we’ll highlight it clearly so you aren’t left guessing about your budget.
Q11: What kind of warranty do you offer?
You get the full statutory warranties required by NSW law: 6 years for structural work and 2 years for non-structural items. On top of that, we take a lot of pride in what we do. If something isn’t quite right, we’ll be there to fix it.
Q12: How do you check the quality during the build?
We don’t leave anything to chance. We run our own inspections at every stage, and we only work with a hand-picked team of tradies we’ve trusted for years. You’re also more than welcome to come for a walk-through at scheduled times, and we’re happy to work with independent inspectors if you want that extra set of eyes.
